Tristan started CrossFit when he was 12.  He has entered several CrossFit competitions and recently started competing in Weightlifting.  He finished in 3rd Place in the Fall Free for All CrossFit competition held at UNF, while being the youngest competitor.  Tristan competed in the CrossFit Teen Gauntlet placing 1st, while also finishing 3rd in the world.  During the CrossFit Games Open, he placed 1st in the state of Florida and 17th in the world among 16-17 year olds.  At his first USAW competition he qualified for Nationals and took 1st place.  Recently he competed at the USA Weightlifting Youth Nationals where he finished 12th.

Tristan is a LifeAsRx Teen Team Member.  He would like to be a competitor in the 2020 CrossFit Games.

I spent 22 years as a Helicopter Naval Aircrewman and Rescue Swimmer in the US Navy.  During that time I served as an instructor for Aviation Rescue Swimmer School and later graduated from the US Coast Guards Advanced Rescue Swimmer School.  This was a demanding job that required constant physical fitness training to be prepared for any rescue situation.  Also during my time in the Navy, I served as the Command Physical Fitness Coordinator for three different commands and was responsible for assisting sailors reach and maintain their own fitness goals.

While working in Afghanistan, I was introduced to CrossFit by a co-worker who was a Level I coach. Like a lot of other people, I didn’t think CrossFit was for me.  However, I was missing something from my current workouts, so I agreed to give it a try for 3 weeks.  After my first WOD I was hooked and wanted more.  The challenge of the WOD, camaraderie of my fellow athletes and the constant changing of the workout was exactly what was missing from my “other” workout program.  I introduced CrossFit to my wife and daughter shortly afterwards.  All three of us have noticed and felt the benefits of the program in our daily lives with improved strength, flexibility, mobility, and weight loss.

 After two years of doing CrossFit at work, it was time to find a good box at home to continue to improve my fitness.  My daughter Kailin and I joined BlackFin CrossFit in April of 2012 and couldn’t be happier with the decision.  I attained my Level I certification in September 2012 and consider myself very fortunate to be one the coaches at BlackFin CrossFit.

I started my CrossFit journey in November of 2012 at BlackFin.  I was 32,
and in dire need of physical activity. My weight was starting to climb, and I
could feel father time creeping up on me. Prior to that point, my fitness
regime consisted of some basic body weight movements, and a little
running. I did not play any high school or collegiate sports, so I can proudly
say that almost all of the athleticism I possess today comes from training
within the four walls of BlackFin CrossFit. There is no doubt that my
current state of fitness at 36 years old is the best it has EVER been. The
confidence, and energy level gained has truly transformed my life. Helping
other CrossFit athletes achieve similar life changing results will be the next
chapter of my journey, and doing so at BlackFin is truly a dream come
true.

What would I do without CrossFit??!!  I have been CrossFitting since 2010.  I was a competitive gymnast and a college cheerleader.  I started CrossFit at BlackFin after my husband, Marc, continued to "encourage" me to give it a try.  Obviously, I became hooked.    Each year I get older, but each year my workout times get faster, my lifts get heavier, and my fitness goals change.  This wouldn't be possible without CrossFit and the people that we workout with each day.

Until one experiences CrossFit, they can never understand the term "FIT".  No other form of exercise can do for you what CrossFit does.  Realizing that I was considerably overweight and in very poor conditional shape, I decided to give it a go.  Since October 2009, I have made incredible changes in my life. I can do more now at 42 than I could at 20 because of CrossFit. Come give it shot...Come find the true meaning of F-I-T!!!
